Dr. Louise Rasmussen is co-founder and principal scientist at Global Cognition. Her work aims to understand and improve professionals’ cultural competence. Rasmussen is a lead developer of Adaptive Readiness for Culture (ARC), a competency model that defines the skills people need to adapt quickly to new cultures and work effectively with diverse partners. ARC is based on extensive studies of professionals who have collaborated closely with culturally different others in multiple regions overseas. It has been incorporated into policy that guides cultural training and education of U.S. defense department personnel. In addition to further testing and refining ARC, Rasmussen designs instruction, develops assessments, and conducts studies to evaluate programs to promote the development of cultural competence. Rasmussen is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Denmark.
