Originally born in Northern Ireland, I moved to England in my late teens to go to university to read Archaeology. After a short period of working in the field, I worked various jobs before making a complete career change and getting a job as a trainee Ranger with the National Trust. This seemed like the perfect career fit as I had such a passion for nature and the outdoors. After meeting my partner Sandra, we realised quite early on that we had a shared dream of finding a plot of land where we could grow our own food, yearning for a slower paced life that would be in greater harmony with nature and the seasons. After taking a leap of faith and quitting our jobs, we put our life's savings into buying Lynbreck Croft in 2016, a derelict farming unit on the edge of the Cairngorm mountains in the Highlands of Scotland. Our story is one of reviving the croft, our journey into farming with no experience and no money and ultimately, what it ended up looking like to follow our dreams.
