M. A. Maddock is an Irish author residing in Co. Meath, Ireland. She writes epic historical fantasy fiction novels set in Scotland, a place dear to her heart. Packed with lots of action and adventure, The Sixth Amulet - the revised edition of Beyond the Darkness (*please note: Beyond the Darkness is no longer available) - is Book One of The Sixth Amulet series. It blends some historical facts with fiction. Her misfit characters are, to say the least, extremely interesting and exciting, with a strong female presence. This has it all: love, hate, evil, betrayal, loyalty (need I say more!), with plenty of sword action and sorcery thrown into the mix. Also available, is the follow-up to The Sixth Amulet - The Moon Chasers (Book Two in the series) - and, after her promise to "step up the action" in the third instalment, the much-anticipated, A Flutter on the Wind (Book Three) is now available. And from what we hear, we're in for one helluva ride! And for all you Audiobook lovers, the Audiobook of The Sixth Amulet is now available on Audible and iTunes. It features the extraordinary talent of actor James Dallin Taylor. The audio also has a bonus offering by Scottish storyteller and author, Graeme Johncock of Scotland's Stories, who provided his voice (and words) for the novel's foreword, which, we agree, is a nice touch. Also available is the Audiobook of The Moon Chasers. Once again, we're treated to the exceptional talent of James Dallin Taylor who takes on Maddock's twenty-three characters! This time, the foreword is narrated by one of Scotland's renowned Bards (storyteller and author), Eileen Budd, whose haunting, melodic voice (and words) captures the essence of what is to come. Eileen also narrates the evocative prologue for one of the chapters which introduces us to Siófra, a spectre who haunts the infamous "Whispering Waters" - a scene that will keep you turning the pages. In the meantime, Maddock is working on the fourth instalment (untitled) - "I'm interested, and excited, to see how the story will progress and to discover what's in store for my long-suffering characters. I plan to conclude the story, which may come in two parts. However, that depends on my 'muse'. But big books do take time, and, like anyone else, we authors do have lives to lead which can sometimes be challenging, especially when trying to complete a book series. So, please be patient. Book Four is well underway! X" When Miriam isn't writing, she loves to get outdoors and explore nature's offerings; "It's great for the little grey cells!" she tells us. But she owes much of her inspiration to her frequent trips to Scotland, visiting friends, taking in the sights (each visit takes her somewhere new and exciting) and indulging in a dram or two!
