After a colorful life spanning four continents and 16 cities, earning her keep as cook, chambermaid, waitress, fisher-woman, missionary, speaker/teacher, tutor, housekeeper and academic writing editor, Marilyn now lives in British Columbia with her husband and two delightful cats. She enjoys writing, dreaming, hiking, cycling, reading, word games, discovering great TV series and documentaries, and cleaning other people’s homes. Her writing has appeared in many journals and anthologies, including The Eastern Iowa Review, Brevity Blog, and Longreads, and she's been the happy winner of several writing contests. Paradise Road, her first memoir, won several awards and garnered great reviews, appealing to readers of diverse ages and backgrounds. (The youngest fan she's aware of is 16; her oldest approaching her 90s.)The Box Must be Empty, her second memoir, picks up her story 20 years later, and finds her reckoning with a troubled past and ghosts that won't let go. She has two more memoirs to come, relating her adventures living in India, Nigeria, and South Africa. Find samples of her writing at www.MarilynKriete.com.
