Markus Gerwinski was born in 1972 in Essen, Germany. In his youth he started publishing SF and fantasy stories via fanzines. His ambition to create a substantiated background for his science fiction stories became his main motivation to study physics. In the fantasy genre, he lives out his passion for history and also likes to include personal experiences. ("I prefer writing about monsters that I actually fought myself.") Since 2011, Markus Gerwinski has been concentrating on his creative work. Besides writing novels, he is engaged in illustration-drawing. Together with his wife, Sandra Gerwinski, he is also active as a designer of role playing games. Markus and Sandra Gerwinski are living with their son in Stade, Germany.
