Marlene Zefferys originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba attended the University of Manitoba where she received a BSc degree in zoology and premed. She worked in medical research in Winnipeg and Vancouver, BC before joining neonatal biology research at the University of Washington, Health Sciences. She has always had an interest in animals, health and education. She lived and worked in Kuala Lumpur as coordinator for the Malaysian American Commission on Educational Exchange Advising Center. She assisted many Malaysian students wanting to go to U.S. universities, spoke at conferences and wrote books on education for Malaysians travelling to the U.S. Her latest novel, Tears in the Rainforest, is about the plight of the exotic animals being trafficked globally. Her hope is that her novel will highlight the rapid increase in animal smuggling globally and help to stop it. Tears in the Rainforest is an international thriller that Zefferys experienced in South East Asia.
