I've been writing since I could write. And making up stories since before then. Writing daily on my blog is one of my greatest joys. You can find me there at www.blessourhearts.net. Here in the south, we say "bless your heart" or "bless her heart" or "bless our hearts" as a sort of smoothing-over when the conversational waters have been roiled in any way although sometimes we just mean it as a general, all purpose and sincere blessing. I live in a tiny village in North Florida. We have a truck stop, a post office, and a flashing light. What we mostly have are some of the oldest and most beautiful live oak trees in the world. They give me the sustenance I crave, the reminder of my relative insignificance which I need, and the beauty which fills my heart. I am as tied to the south as these oaks. My roots run deep. The house I live in beneath these trees was built in 1859 and it is my dream house. The floors tilt, the walls are solid, the floor is heart pine and it whispers its stories to me as I live my own story here with my husband of thirty years. We keep a few chickens and have a cat. My grandsons come to play every week. My children live close enough for me to get my arms around them whenever I need to. It's a good life. It's the fulfillment of a dream I never realized I had.
