Biographer Michael Graham is author of "Cheer Up! The Life and Ministry of Jack Miller" and director of The Jack Miller Project. Originally from Bayou La Batre, a fishing village in southwest Alabama, Mike spent his youth working in his father’s seafood business. In 1988, Mike graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Marketing and International Business. While in Tuscaloosa, Mike played football for the Crimson Tide, was actively involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), and met his wife Vicki. After graduation, Mike returned to the Gulf Coast to work in the family business. In 1991, the family of four moved to Enterprise, Alabama (Vicki's hometown) where they attended First Baptist Church until joining First Presbyterian Church (PCA). It was in 1991 that the Grahams were first introduced to Jack Miller and Sonship-by-Phone. In 1998, Mike and Vicki packed up their three children and headed to St. Louis, Missouri, where he attended Covenant Theological Seminary. In 2001, Mike graduated with an M.Div. emphasizing church planting and revitalization. For the past nineteen years, Mike, Vicki, and their now four children have lived in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee where Mike serves as pastor at Hickory Grove Church (PCA). Since 2001, the Grahams have been deeply involved in missions, most notably in Ireland, India, and Sri Lanka. Mike began his doctoral studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012 and graduated in May 2019 with a Ph.D. in North American Missions-Applied Theology. During his time at Southeastern, Mike was surprised at the extent of Jack Miller's pioneering influence in a Baptist seminary doctoral context and more broadly upon the modern-day grace movement. Mike and Dr. Danny Akin, President of Southeastern, agreed that Jack’s story needed recording for the church while so many important leaders Jack had influenced were still alive. When P&R Books learned of Mike's research, the dissertation quickly turned into the book "Cheer Up!" The biography has also sparked ideas for many other related projects. Thus, the Jack Miller Project was born to encourage and pursue these projects outlined in the dissertation's recommendations for further research.
