Michael J. O'Loughlin is the national correspondent for America Media, where he writes regularly about the Catholic Church, and the host of the podcast, "Plague: Untold Stories of AIDS and the Catholic Church." The "Plague" podcast was recommended by The New York Times and won awards from The National LGBTQ Journalists Association, the Religion News Association, and the Catholic Press Association. Mike is the author of a book based on the podcast, Hidden Mercy: AIDS, Catholics, and the Untold Stories of Compassion in the Face of Fear (November 2021, Broadleaf Books). He is also author of The Tweetable Pope: A Spiritual Revolution in 140 Characters (2015, HarperOne). Previously a staff writer for The Boston Globe's Crux, Mike has also written for The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, The Advocate, Religion News Service.
