Dr. Ray Islam (Mohammad Rubyet Islam) is an author, AIML scientist, professor, and AI ethicist recognized in the Marquis Who's Who for 2024-25. He serves as an adjunct professor at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, where he teaches Generative AI (NLP) and Machine Learning. Previously, he served as a lecturer in Cyber Security at the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Ray's professional journey has led him to leadership roles in AI and machine learning at prominent companies such as Deloitte (USA), Raytheon (USA), Lockheed Martin (USA), Booz Allen Hamilton (USA), ALCOA (Canada), Wal-Mart (UK), Tesco (UK), and Carrefour's Indian subcontinent office, spanning three different continents. He also provides consultancy services to notable clients including the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Berkshire Hathaway, Capital One, the U.S. Department of Commerce, NASA, the American Institutes for Research (AIR), the General Services Administration (GSA) serving the White House, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the American Chemical Society (ACS), among others. With a strong background in research, he serves as an associate editor and reviewer for leading conferences and journals such as the Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR), Reliability Engineering & System Safety (RESS), and the Journal of Prognostics and Health Management (JPHM). His research focuses on AIML, generative AI, Explainable AI (XAI), and AI ethics. Dr. Ray earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he developed an novel approach to estimating the remaining useful life of software systems using machine learning (NLP) and Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) methods. He also holds three master's degrees and a bachelor's degree from prestigious institutions across Canada, Scotland, England, and Bangladesh. He is currently pursuing a MicroMasters in Data Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and plans to continue with a master’s degree at Harvard University.
