It took more than 50 years to complete this collection, but a friend once taught me the acronym KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid, and that's what now follows. Many of my poems began and ended with little if any editing. Even my longest poem, "House For Sale", simply underwent a rearrangement of stanzas. I can't begin to explain how I can complete a poem without editing but only your comments can tell me if I was or wasn't successful. There is one poem I'll spend some time describing, "Imagery of War - 1967". From 1969 until the present, I sought the help of therapists. By 1983 I realized that when I felt bad, I entered therapy and when I felt good, I left. Between 1969 And 1983 I'm guessing I passed through 10 therapists' offices. In 1983, I had a great rapport with my therapist so rather than simply exit again, one evening in my room in San Francisco, I contemplated whether there was anything I hadn't addressed. The answer was Vietnam. That evening, I looked at the wall in my room and wrote, "There was death on hill...". From those words till the end, I could not stop the emotions that surfaced. It was the beginning. There is no ending. I look forward to reading your comments. After so many years of effort, I'd really like to know if it was worth it.
