Paul Owens is the author of 1999's best-selling book, The Dog Whisperer: A Compassionate Nonviolent Approach to Dog Training now released again in an updated 2nd Edition, (2007) as well as the newly released Puppy Whisperer (2007). He is featured on his dog training DVDs, The Dog Whisperer: Beginning and Intermediate Dog Training for Puppies and Dogs, and the new Dog Whisperer: Solving Common Behavior Problems for Puppies and Dogs. Paul is often referred to as the "original" Dog Whisperer because his first book and DVD were released prior to those of others who now use that phrase. Paul is an official member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and is endorsed by The National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors (NADOI). Dog Whisperer Paul Owens has appeared on numerous radio and television programs, including PBS's Pets: Part of the Family and the nationally syndicated Pet Files. His articles and interviews have appeared in regional and national magazines and newspapers, including Life Magazine, Animal Wellness Magazine, The Pet Press, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, LA Parent, The Burbank Leader, and The APDT Chronicle of the Dog, among others. His specialty is in the evaluation and behavior modification of aggressive dogs and he is frequently consulted and referred by veterinarians. Jeff Probst, Host of Survivor, says Paul is "hands down the best dog trainer I've ever worked with! His dog training DVD captures all of his professionalism and expertise in an effective and easy-to-follow format." He is also the director of Raise With Praise(R) Inc., a nonprofit educational organization and the founder/director of the children's after-school, violence prevention program, Paws for Peace. Paul's public service work includes bite prevention programs for children and monthly dog training seminars at humane societies and shelters. Paul's Philosophy: "I believe nonviolence fosters nonviolence. Because of the link between dog and human behavior, nonviolent dog training contributes to helping build a world of peace for humans and dogs."
