PETER SMALLEY Peter Smalley was born in Melbourne, Australia, and educated at Geelong Grammar School. He began his writing career in the advertising industry, and moved on into radio, television, and film, and began writing novels. His first novel ‘A Warm Gun’ (Andre Deutsch, London) won the John Llewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize. His second novel was ‘Trove’ (Collins, London). There followed a long series of eighteenth-century set sea stories: the HMS Expedient series. There were nine altogether: ‘HMS Expedient’ – ‘Port Royal’ – ‘Barbary Coast’ – ‘The Hawk’ – ‘The Gathering Storm’ – ‘The Pursuit’ (Century/Arrow) ‘The Marvellous Sea’ – ‘The Following Wind’ – ‘The Privateer’ (Amazon kdp) The author has now begun an entirely new and different series, the John Wallace spy series, beginning with ‘The Last Walk’, and followed by ‘The Green Wound’ on Amazon kdp. He is also the author of stand alone novels ‘The Mistake’ and ‘Persverance’ (Amazon kdp). He divides his time between London and Kent, and enjoys reading, walking in the countryside, watching old movies, and following sports on television, notably motor racing. His wife Clytie – an artist and film director – died in 2017. ********
