Phil Mathison was born in Hull in 1951 and has a lifelong interest in railways and music. Since 1980 he has been a song writer and composer, and he has a number of tracks on CDbaby and Soundcloud. In 1999 he started writing railway ghost stories, before moving on to non-fiction in 2006 with his trainspotting memoirs - 'Shed Bashing with the Beatles'. Since then he has concentrated on history books about East Yorkshire. His other interests are walking, things Victorian and Edwardian, the countryside and anything to do with Spurn Point. My latest book 'The Legendary Lost Town of Ravenser' is about the famous 13th century seaport that existed in the Spurn area. Tales of piracy and the town's demise at the hands of the rapacious sea!
