My parents were only children who had eleven kids. I am the firstborn but they kept trying until they got it right. (Hello Lara Elizabeth!) I was a bit spoiled by my grandfather who gave me a horse when I was seven. A couple of years later he gave the rest of the brood a Shetland pony to share. There is still sibling resentment around that arrangement. Before her death in 2010 our mom told us that if there were ever a time when we weren't speaking with each other she would come back and haunt us. Consequently there is a lot of happy texting carved into our family tree. Dad was a physician and mom a storyteller. My sciences were weak and so I followed in mom's footsteps. I am currently writing another novel (working title, Wish You Were Her) and I write occasional columns for The Denver Post. I live in Lone Tree, Colorado with my wife and have two sons, the older of whom is married to a lovely New York woman and lives in Pacific Beach, the younger is married to a beautiful woman from Poland and they have two brilliant kids and live near me. I bring those kids donuts because I can't afford a horse or a pony. I thank you for reading Assisted Living and Released!
