Quent Cordair was born in 1964 in southern Illinois. Though raised in an insular, fundamentalist religious sect, he fell in love as a child with books and reading. The local library became a treasured gateway to the outside world. Following an enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps, he launched his writing career, supporting his passion by waiting tables, working as a security guard, stocking groceries, and stuffing envelopes at a mail-processing center. His first short story, “A Prelude to Pleasure,” was published by the Atlantean Press Review in 1991. He began taking portrait commissions while teaching himself how to paint, working at his easel in a local park. After exhibiting in street fairs for two years, he opened his own art gallery in 1996 in Burlingame, California. Today, Quent Cordair Fine Art, with locations in Napa, California, and Jackson, Wyoming, represents thirty Romantic Realist painters and sculptors. Quent’s own paintings and prints are collected internationally. His acclaimed novels, short stories, poetry, and screenplays are drawn from a lifetime of experience and interests in romance, adventure, individualism, religion, history, politics, philosophy, and art. Quent and his wife, Linda, live in Wyoming with their cat, Lexie, and their labradoodle, Sophie, when not traveling to dote on their granddaughters.
