Richard Thompson was born in Baltimore in 1946. A veteran of the United States Navy, Richard's interest in writing began when he participated in a tiger cruise aboard a nuclear submarine. That adventure contributed to the creation of The Tiger Cruise which was published in 1999. The Tiger Cruise went on to receive recognition by producer Jerry Bruckheimer when The Tiger Cruise received coverage (a review process to determine possible movie rights) by Bruckheimer. In addition, The Tiger Cruise was also published in Dutch in the Netherlands by Uitgeverij Kok, a major publisher in that country. In 2003, Richard published North Star Bay, his second book. "I think my second book is better than my first," Richard said when asked about his writings. That's a bold statement considering that his first book has, and continues, to sell well. North Star Bay recounts an actual event that occurred in 1968 in Thule, Greenland when a B-52 Boeing Stratofortress, carrying four 1.1 megaton H-Bombs crashed and burned in North Star Bay. The book has received wide acclaim and continues to sell well. Richard resides in Maryland, is married with two grown children, and continues what he calls, "This amazing adventure" - writing.
