Rik came into the world surrounded by the slum-lands of fifties North East England. Leaving school at fifteen without academic qualifications, he worked in shipyards on a local river, spent time in the merchant navy and took employment in quarries in South East England. The time came he began studying and worked his way through to gaining a BSc. degree in mathematics and computing. But reading was his first love and he yearned to write fiction. An early retirement from the IT sector gave the opportunity to pursue the dream seriously and from that opening came his debut novel, Birth of an Assassin, the first in a series of thrillers. Rik and his wife have their home in Essex in the UK. What people are saying about Rik's books: "Capturing the energy, pace, and vibrancy of life in Brazil, Rik Stone delivers a thrilling underworld adventure in A Destiny to Die For. Written from Angelita’s colorful perspective, the dialogue and character interactions are believable, while some of the confessional moments feel painfully torn from lived experience. With rich descriptive passages, a vividly depicted setting, and authentic thematic elements of morality and family, this is a surprisingly tender, yet action-packed read." SPR "Birth of an Assassin was every bit the action thriller I knew it would be. Full of suspense and danger, it's hard to predict what will happen next. It was a wild ride that I enjoyed until the very end. 5 stars!" (Karma) http://amzn.com/B00DIFVC3S "The Turkish Connection is an intense, emotionally driven novel focused around thieves, criminals, and undercover agents. With each page, the reader becomes more interested in each of the characters and yearns to find out what will happen next." (Phil Bolos) http://amzn.com/1508888434 "A highly descriptive scene and character setting transports you back to a Russia in times of oppression. It is a thrilling ride with lots of action and adventure!" (Sierra Klein) http://amzn.com/B00DIFVC3S "The Turkish Connection makes use of the murky, dusty, yet rich setting of 1950's Istanbul, and does so with some eminence. The historical setting is unique, full of local detail that suggests a great deal of research. Stone is an author who understands difficulty, especially growing up in poverty. His experience clearly lends itself to the book, and the final product is exceptional, both in its quietly evocative writing and its well-developed setting and character." (Self-Publishing Review), 5 stars. http://amzn.com/1508888434 "The post-war Soviet Moscow setting is perfect for the story and is used well in all ways. Both the setting and characters are rich, leaving a great deal of conjecture for the reader to expand upon themselves. The plot is complex and full of important, small details. Birth of an Assassin is a very well-crafted piece that will appeal to a varied range of readers. A satisfying historical thriller awaits."
