Sandra Kucinich-Horn (K-Horn) has worked in politics, education, and broadcast media. Her first novel, The Rabbit Trap, was awarded the Edward Hoffer Award in 2007. She has attended The Midwest Writers and the Central Ohio Fiction Writers Conferences. K-Horn is a member of the National League of American Pen Women, Women's Fiction Writers and Pitch 2 Publish, an international writing organization. More magazine published her article, "Ziplining in Costa Rica," in 2008. After teaching for thirty-one years, K-Horn retired from teaching English and Communications at the high school level and is an adjunct professor at Capital University. Time Warner awarded her Teacher of the Year in 2006 and 2008. During her tenure, the Television Academy of Arts and Science awarded K-Horn and her students 12 High School Awards of Excellence. As she was teaching, she became concerned about teens and prescription drugs. It inspired her to write Downward Spiral to alert teens and their parents about the perils of prescription drugs as entertainment or to take unprescribed medications for anxiety or stress. In 2021, Ohioana Library featured Downward Spiral in its 15th Anniversary Festival. Sandra actively promotes her novels and nonfiction at book signings, book clubs, and giving presentations.
