Sophie Deram Ph.D is a Franco-Brazilian agronomist and Registered Dietitian, with a Ph.D from the Department of Endocrinology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP) and the author of the best-selling book "O peso das dietas - The Weight of Diets" in Brazil and "Oubliez les régimes - Forget diets" in France. She is an activist against restrictive diets and advocates rescuing the pleasure of eating and mindful eating. She coined phrases like "Eat Better, Not Less" or "Diets Make You Fat". In her online practice, as well as in social networks, in her blog, in the online programs she develops, in the courses she teaches and in her speaches, she is dedicated to inspiring everyone to stop dieting, improve their relationship with food and their body, eat fresh and non-industrialized ("in-natura") food and cook to achieve better health and well-being. She developed the Sophie Method, a non-dieting method of care aimed at all health professionals. There are already more than 500 professionals trained in Brazil. Sophie is now one of the main names in nutrition in Brazil and her books are a reference in universities. Her fields of reserach have been Genetics, Nutrigenomics, Nutrigenetics, Obesity and Eating Disorders. She currently is the Coordinator of the Eating Disorders Genetics Project at the AMBULIM of the FMUSP.
