Stephen B. Hoshal has always believed in the power of perseverance, learning, and storytelling. Born with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and education, he graduated high school in 1959 before attending Western Michigan University. His career as an industrial high school shop teacher allowed him to inspire generations of students, helping them develop skills that would serve them for a lifetime. Beyond teaching, Stephen found joy in creative pursuits, including Community Theater and amateur radio. However, one of his greatest passions was writing—particularly crafting stories that bridge the wisdom of experience with the curiosity of youth. His goal has always been to help retirees find purpose while passing valuable life lessons to younger generations in an engaging and entertaining way. This book, Walter – the brave bus, was inspired by the legendary Chicago football player Walter Payton, whose unwavering determination led him to victory. Just as Payton never gave up on his dream, Stephen wanted to tell a story that would remind readers—young and old—to keep going, no matter the obstacles. Stephen’s greatest inspiration has always been his older brother, Dr. Verne L. Hoshal Jr., a dedicated medical doctor and personal hero. But above all, his heart belongs to his family—his beloved wife Charlotte, his cherished daughter Annelise, and his wonderful grandson Braxton—who continue to be the driving force behind his creativity and love for storytelling. Through his writing, Stephen B. Hoshal invites readers to embrace the journey of life with hope, resilience, and an open heart—just as Walter does in his adventures.
