Dr. Stephen Porder is a professor and the Associate Provost for Sustainability at Brown University. He has published over 70 peer reviewed scientific papers on topics ranging from ecosystem development in the Hawaiian Islands to the impacts of soy agriculture in the Brazilian Amazon. His work for a more general audiences has been published in the New York Times, Time Magazine, Natural History Magazine, Folha de São Paulo and other popular press outlets. He is the founder and science lead of the radioshow/podcast Possibly, which explores sustainability science and solutions to our major environmental challenges in a short, easily accessible format. Dr. Porder was born and raised in New York City, where he attended the United Nations International School. He received a BA in history from Amherst College, a M.S. in geology from the University of Montana, and a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology from Stanford University before joining the faculty at Brown.
