Steve Batchelor is a family man, a businessman and a football fan. In 1966, as a 17 year old, he was a spectator at all of England's 1966 World Cup matches including the epic final In 2006 he wrote book entitled 'I was there in '66' telling of his experiences at the time and also what it was like to be living in 'swinging London' in the sixties with tales of family life and even seeing Eric Clapton playing in the local club He also managed to squeeze a footnote into the book highlighting the achievements of Queens Park Rangers during the sixties as he has been a lifelong supporter The book has been on continuous sale via Amazon ever since Steve was an active sportsman playing amateur football for many years before taking up distance running and completed the London Marathon in 1998 under 4 hours. In 2019 he discovered the joys of Walking Football and realised what a huge mental & physical benefit it gave to the people that played it, especially at the club he joined in Moulton, Northampton where he was compelled by the founder, Phil Andrews to compile a book telling their individual stories and this was published in May 2022 entitled 'Walking back to happiness: Tales of Walking Footballers' At present Steve is happy to be a member of a local book club with no plans for further authorship - but, who knows..?
