Steven is the author of the memoir MODERN DAY ORPHAN: HOW A BOY LOST HIS WAY; the story of his own childhood growing up within the juvenile system in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Written to illustrate the dangers of the system, based on his own experiences. Steven formally worked in the Mental Health field as a Wellness Center Director to try to help others whose struggles he knows all too well. He also participates in Crisis Intervention Training with the local county prosecutors office in an effort to help train police officers to recognize the signs of crisis. Steven is a staunch advocate for the inadequacies of the justice system, and focuses a lot of his time on issues related to re-entry for justice involved people and reducing the recidivism rate. Firmly anchored in his convictions, Steven holds the belief that one of life's utmost priorities entails meeting people where they are, both figuratively and literally. He has recently furthered his education in Human Services & Community Justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Currently, Steven works as an Assistant Director for a nationwide high-impact nonprofit that provides community-based alternatives to youth incarceration, congregate placements and neighborhood violence. Steven is also available for public speaking events; speaking to children in schools and institutions to guide them in their own development
