I live, write, and teach in the mountains of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and am the author of my forthcoming poetry collection, Flying Yellow (Paraclete Press, April 2021), and the first full collection, What a Light Thing, This Stone. I've also published two chapbooks, Hungry Foxes and Weather of the House. Two of my poems were nominated for the Pushcart Prize and my work appears regularly in journals and anthologies, such as Image, Christian Century, Shenandoah, Alaska Quarterly Review, Poems of Devotion, In Place and others. I'm also an essayist and have published lyrical essays in magazines and in two collections, Sketches of Home and A Welcome Shore. My book The Roar on the Other Side: A Student Guide for Writing Poetry is widely used in private schools and homeschools. I teach teaches poetry workshops at the Muse Writers Center in Norfolk, Virginia (now remotely), and for other groups of students ages five through eighty. I own and operate a small, independent communications business, PR Flair.
