I started this writing thing by accident. I was living thru a trying time and it came out of nowhere- I wrote High Country Journal. That was the very first thing I've ever written in my life. When it was done I was very surprised that I could do such a thing. Yes, it was rough and I hadn't yet learned about spell/grammar check and it needed a great deal of help; but people who read it liked it. They forgave me my mistakes and encouraged me to keep writing so I did. It was several years before I published anything on Amazon Kindle and bad spelling/grammar aside people liked something about my style. All in all it's been a hell of a ride and I wouldn't have missed it for anything. And now, six years later I'm working on number 26 in an ongoing series called "A Long Lonely Road". I have made a bit of improvement as far as cleaning up the bad spelling. I will always have trouble with some word usage like then/than, to/too, but I am working on it. I read the reviews of my works and while some seem to be just somebody being a shit, others are spot on. I've gone back and did a lot of changing in some of them, but now I have a wonderful lady who in is editing my books in her spare time. It's slow going but she is getting it done. The best thing about the bad reviews is the fact that they never say I have no talent. They rightfully say I need lessons in grammar, but some of the things they pick at are the very things that are the "ME" of my style. I use words like gonna, wanna, y'all, etc. and so do my characters. To have my characters speaking the King's English would be rather silly so I write as I speak. I'm not an author, I'm a story teller- there is a difference. I've had a couple of reviews about the length of my little books and how the reviewers thought $2.99 was too much to pay, and to a degree I would agree. It takes me about 10 to 30 days to write a 100 page book. I know it takes the average person about an hour or two to read if they are a normal reader and are uninterrupted, but I see it as I spend a few hours a day for that 10 to 30 days writing and re-writing the book, so I have a minimum of 30 to 100 hours invested in the final product. If a person is entertained for that hour or two for the price of a beer isn't that reasonable? I hope this gives you some insight into the person behind the story, and I hope you enjoy the story.
