Tamala Floyd, LCSW, is a psychotherapist, author, IFS lead trainer, consultant, and retreat leader with over 25 years of experience. She received a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California and an undergraduate degree in psychology from California State University–Long Beach. She has taught at the University of Phoenix and the University of Southern California in human services and social work. Tamala has worked in various settings including schools, criminal justice, hospitals, mental health agencies and private practice. She has expertise in childhood sexual abuse, women’s sexual trauma and domestic violence. Her work focuses on women’s trauma, mothering, and relationship issues, helping women identify and heal emotional wounds that impede their success and coaching them in achieving fulfilling life goals. Tamala has several author credits. Her latest book, "Listening When Parts Speak: A Practical Guide to Healing with Internal Family Systems Therapy and Ancestor Wisdom," focuses on healing personal and generational trauma. She authored a chapter in "Internal Family Systems Therapy: Supervision and Consultation." The chapter focuses on IFS consultation with BIPOC therapists. She also authored a chapter in "Fiercely Speaking” entitled, Healing the Wounded Mother. She has been married to her husband for over 25 years. She enjoys their nomadic international travel life. They have five adult children between them, three of which are adopted.
