Tamsin had a nomadic childhood (eight different schools!), but the one place that always felt like home was Shetland, her mother’s homeland. Shetland is a collection of teeny tiny islands, so far north they struggle to fit on the map. They are overflowing with myths and legends, most of which are true. Growing up, Tamsin was happiest on the beach, whispering spells into sea shells and singing to the selkies. At University, keen to study something magical and mysterious, Tamsin chose the human brain and completed a degree in Neuroscience. Having spent quite a long time wearing a white lab coat and goggles, and practising her mad scientist glare, she discovered that her brain was full to bursting point with imagination. To avoid a messy explosion, writing was the only option. Tamsin now lives in Bath, but still flies home to Shetland whenever she can. If you go there in the summer, you might spot her, striding about with the wind in her hair, chasing a wild story.
