Teresa Strasser is an Emmy-winning writer (Comedy Central) and Emmy-nominated television host ("While You Were Out" on TLC). She’s been a contributor to the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, the Arizona Republic and The Today Show. Her first-person essays have garnered three Los Angeles Press Club Awards, including Columnist of the Year. As a broadcaster, she’s been on The View, Good Morning America, The Talk, CNN, Good Day New York, and was a regular guest on Dr. Phil. Radio and podcast audiences know her as the co-host of The Guinness World Record holding Adam Carolla Show. Her first memoir, "Exploiting My Baby: Because it’s Exploiting Me" was a bestseller, and optioned for television by ABC. Her second book, "Making It Home: Life Lessons From a Season of Little League" (Penguin) is a memoir about grief and baseball. In this heartfelt story — called “wise and wise-cracking” by Publisher’s Weekly — one season of Little League becomes the framework for a story about family, loss, and the fundamentals of baseball and life. When her brother died from cancer, and her mother just four months later, Strasser was left to mourn with her father, a cantankerous retired mechanic living in an Arizona trailer park. As her son embarked on a his first season as a pitcher, Teresa and her dad formed a grief group of two in Costco chairs behind the first base line. For this father and daughter, the stages of grief were the draft, the regular season, and the playoffs. They laughed, cheered, over-analyzed every team, talked a little smack, and got way too into baseball. Cal Ripken, Jr. describes this memoir as, “A story about a team who becomes a family, and a family who becomes a team.” USA Today called it “a must read,” naming it one of the best books of the year, and Good Housekeeping praised it as, “A perfect book for fans of baseball, and also wonderful for those who aren’t.” She now lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband — who still coaches Little League with a Moneyball sensibility, and all the nerdy earnestness of a Rush cover band — and her two sons. You can find her either live on a local morning show called The Daily Mix, or on the sidelines pacing nervously.
