Thomas J. Bussen is a lawyer turned Peace Corps volunteer who is now an assistant teaching professor of management at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Prior to his current role, he was a faculty member at the Rwandan campus of African Leadership University. Based in Kigali, Rwanda, Bussen taught international subjects to students of diverse nationalities, while inside and outside the classroom striving to reject deeply ingrained competitively individualistic impulses in lieu of the enlightened self-interest ideal. He is an established author on cross-cultural research. His books include Shaping the Global Leader: Fundamentals in Culture and Behavior for Optimal Organizational Performance (Routledge, 2019), co-authored with Henry Biggs & Lenny Ramsey, and Compliance Management: A How-to Guide for Executives, Lawyers, and Other Compliance Professionals (Praeger, 2015), co-authored with Nitish J. Singh. Bussen holds a DBA from the University of Florida and a joint JD-MBA from Saint Louis University.
