Tim Lee founded the independent economics consultancy pi Economics in Connecticut in 2003, serving financial institutions from hedge funds to traditional asset managers. There, he was one of the few economists to predict accurately the global financial crisis of 2007-9. Previously he worked for global asset managers including GT Management and Invesco in Hong Kong and London. In Hong Kong, where he lived from 1981 to 1990, he worked on the path-breaking journal of Asian financial economics ‘Asian Monetary Monitor’. His book ‘Economics for Professional Investors’, originally published in 1992, has been published in two editions and translated into other languages. Tim was born and raised in Coventry, England and is grateful for his education at King Henry VIII school and at Magdalene College Cambridge where he studied economics. He met his wife Hilda in Hong Kong, where their children were born. He and his wife enjoy skiing, tennis, music and walking. They now live in Warwick in Warwickshire, England.
