I'm a Cuban-American multidisciplinary writer writing for kids and adults. I've written for Sesame Street and Caillou among other shows. Not going to lie, first time I got to put words (and cookies) into Cookie Monster's mouth was...awesome. I've also worked on Dora the Explorer. My picture book, What the Bread Says is about how my grandfather taught me the family history while learning to bake bread. My novel, White Light, was named one of the Best Books of 2015 by NPR, and won an International Latino Book Award. I also write plays, lots of them! Most recently, the immersive hit The Amparo Experience was called "Miami's Hottest Ticket" by People en Español. I also co-host a podcast about family with my mother and sister, called Never the Empty Nest, which is available anywhere you listen to podcasts. As a journalist and essayist, my pieces have appeared in The LA Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, National Review, ESPN, among others.
