Victor M. Barocas has always been a man of curiosity, a lifelong deep observer of history, a searcher of stories, and now, an unexpected novelist. This novel is his first fiction; before this, his life was anything but ordinary. Victor, the author, grew up in Atlanta. Victor is a proud Sephardic Jew whose family first arrived in Atlanta in 1903. Most Sephardic Jews, after fleeing Spain in 1492, where Victor’s roots can be traced, later lived in Portugal, Holland, Italy, Brazil, Turkey, England, and the Middle East to name just a few. Victor is adaptable, having shifted from his love of boxing in his youth to business after an injury, showcasing his resilience. His experiences range from high-stakes poker in Las Vegas to promoting professional boxing in Atlanta. As an adult he also played “City League Football” for some years. He moved from grocery store ownership at an early age to selling institutional food, which demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit and knack for spotting opportunities. He also worked as a bouncer at his family’s nightclub, highlighting his social skills and comfort in diverse environments. After over 50 years in his family’s chemical distribution business where he worked his way up to CEO, he now enjoys life with his wife, two sons, and granddaughters, while embracing a new storytelling chapter.
