Wanjiru Warama brings over twelve years of experience writing biographical and historical books to her latest project, THE COLONIZED series. Her work underscores the importance of sharing our stories, legacies, and the histories of our families and communities. Born and raised on a British Colonial Farm in Kenya, Wanjiru was the child of peasant farmworkers without formal education. Drawing from her unique upbringing, extensive travels across all seven continents, and experiences as an immigrant in the United States, she crafts biographical and historical nonfiction books that enlighten, entertain, and inspire readers. In her writing, she encourages others to share their stories with family, friends, and the wider world. Wanjiru has authored seven books and one personal essay that include Unexpected America, The British vs Kenya’s Mau Mau, and The Colonial Farm. She is currently working on the fourth book in THE COLONIZED series, which will be released in late 2025. Having grown up in an environment devoid of books, education holds a special place in Wanjiru’s heart. She believes that education is the key to breaking free from the debilitating and dehumanizing constraints of poverty—a struggle she knows all too well from her high school years, the subject of her upcoming book. A dedicated philanthropist with a strong focus on education, Wanjiru is a lifetime member of the Friends of the San Diego Public Library, the Rotary Club, and the San Diego Writers and Editors Guild. She enjoys playing pickleball, practicing yoga, walking, watching TV, savoring good food, reading, and socializing with friends in her spare time. Wanjiru currently resides in California, United States. You can connect with her through her website: wanjiruwaramadotcom.
