Wayne and his wife, Martha, live in Millersburg, Ohio. They have four children and six grandchildren. WAYNE WEAVER LARGER BIO: Wayne Weaver was raised in a Christian home; however, after years of “running against the wall” he decided the Christian life was not for him. All he knew of that life was rampant failure and powerlessness. He had been born again in his teens but became convinced the victory the Bible spoke about was unattainable for him. Around 1980, Wayne hit bottom. His personal life was powerless. His marriage was on the rocks. And his business was a losing battle. Somehow in the midst of his despair, he decided to give the Bible another try. He found in Isaiah 53 that he should repent of “his own way.” He didn’t know what it meant, but he felt a new urgency to take it at face value. Without restraint, he abandoned himself to the Lord in a deep spiritual repentance. It wasn’t a repentance of individual sins, but of his own way. The axe was laid at the root. The Lord received him. It was a tremendous outpouring of heaven. He had never before walked in this truth. So pure and freeing. Freedom from the power of sin. Hunger for the Word of God. With this newfound hope, he decided to quit his job and get serious. He saw the ray of hope and wasn’t going to miss this opportunity. He embarked on a 30-day fast. Toward the end of the thirty days, there was a heavenly cloudburst that came into his little room where he had been seeking the face of God. He experienced a “showering” for about an hour. He didn’t know what was happening, but later realized his experience matched the biblical account of what happened in the Upper Room. He had been baptized by the Holy Spirit. The only thing different from the biblical account was that he did not see the fiery tongues on his head or hear the mighty rushing wind described in Acts 2. This baptism put a fire within his bosom. To this day, he has never been the same. This is when Wayne’s ministry began. Immediately he began sharing the truth from the Bible with others. He spoke the truth of the Word of God without reservation and without bias. He formed a prayer group and locals found deliverances and answers for their lives. They found the same power for living as Wayne had found. People became genuinely born again and lives were soundly changed. Resistance to his message arose immediately. He was regarded as a total outcast by many from his cultural background. Within a year of his life transformation, he joined Pastor David Wilkerson on a brief stint doing evangelistic work with Teen Challenge on the streets of New York City. His passion and continued hunger after truth has opened doors for Wayne to meet and become personal friends with men of God who have had a tremendous influence on his life, including David Wilkerson, Derek Prince, and especially Leonard Ravenhill and Bracy Greer. Wayne was ordained minister on October 13, 1985. Crossroads Mission Church was established in the fall of 1986, and he was appointed as pastor. Wayne has been able to help many people realize the same depth of repentance he found those many years ago and to experience the Holy Spirit baptism without which, as Wayne says, “life is extremely frustrating and not even real.” In 2012, Crossroads Mission Church relocated to Sugarcreek, Ohio and was renamed Oasis Tabernacle.
