Have you ever been stopped in your tracks by an old photograph, a historical building, or a yellowed letter you've come across? Do you feel like you HAVE to know the story behind the letter, or who the people are in the photo? I do. I'm utterly compelled to find out. It's like nothing else in the world matters until I know. And then I HAVE to write about the discoveries I've made—people’s stories from the past—because every life deeply matters. And what we learn from those who came before has the potential to entirely change our path in life. I'm a professional Genetic Genealogist by day, a writer by night, and an artist in between. My love of what we can learn from history compels me to write true stories I unearth during research because I've found that truth is, indeed, much more exciting and inspiring than fiction. So I write about overcoming obstacles in life by coming to know who we really are—the children of God, and the descendants of remarkable people who paved the way for us—even if they really struggled. I believe in learning from our ancestors, honoring them, and then standing on their shoulders to become a better generation. I know that's what they want for us. You know why? Because that's exactly what I want for my own descendants; for each generation to become a little better.
