Yasmine El Rashidi is an Egyptian writer. She is a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books, and an editor of the Middle East arts and culture quarterly Bidoun. Her writing has been featured in publications including Freeman's literary journal, The Atlantic Monthly, Frieze, Artforum, The New York Times, T Magazine, Aperture, and anthologized widely, including in Best American Nonrequired Reading. Among her books is the novel, Chronicle of a Last Summer, A Novel of Egypt, which has been translated into several languages. She has taught at Princeton University, and was a fellow at the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library, and the Institute for Ideas and Imagination in Paris. She lives in Cairo.
