First off Peter Kenny is amazing as always!! Thank you for bringing this Mr. Banks story back to the light. While not a Culture book it possesses the same deep thinking inner motivations of species and the same heavy sci-fi space ship whoop ass. Be patient, read it twice, you’ll find it a masterwork in the Banks world!!

Story
This is a striking addition to the body of Culture lore, and adds definition and scale to the previous works by using the Earth of 1977 as contrast. The stories in the collection range from science fiction to horror, dark-coated fantasy to morality tale. All bear the indefinable stamp of Iain Banks's staggering talent.

Story
A young Native American, Abel has come home from war to find himself caught between two worlds. The first is the world of his father’s, wedding him to the rhythm of the seasons, the harsh beauty of the land, and the ancient rites and traditions of his people. But the other world - modern, industrial America - pulls at Abel, demanding his loyalty, trying to claim his soul, and goading him into a destructive, compulsive cycle of depravity and disgust.

No doubt a worthwhile read but the narrator treated it like one long run on sentence in a hurry to be read. Please Mr. Momaday, read and record this for us.

Another Elric saga, more history, gods, lore. Could be about half as long taking out the tedious repeating narrative of Elric’s history concerning his cousin and wife, got it already. That being said, if you want more Elric, go for it.

Wow, what a great story reaching to the far corners of the globe. An adventure, a WW2 history, English life and really intriguing characters. Like other Shute stories, you read along, then a hook just grabs you and brings the whole reading into clarity and intense interest. The last sentence in this book gave me even greater admiration for Nevil Shute as an truly amazing storyteller!

Story
The war raged across the galaxy. Billions had died, billions more were doomed. Moons, planets, the very stars themselves, faced destruction, cold-blooded, brutal, and worse, random. The Idirans fought for their Faith; the Culture for its moral right to exist. Principles were at stake. There could be no surrender. Within the cosmic conflict, an individual crusade. Deep within a fabled labyrinth on a barren world, a Planet of the Dead proscribed to mortals, lay a fugitive Mind. Both the Culture and the Idirans sought it....
