Not good

The story seemed very forced and characters who were not Latter Day Saints were always portrayed as not good in some way.

Story
When Jenny inherits her estranged grandmother’s cottage in Sherwood Forest, she has nothing to lose - no money, no job, no friends, no family to speak of, and zero self-respect. Things can only get better.... Her grumpy but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting. Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas.

I really enjoyed this book because the characters were so interesting and the people weren’t perfect. They were good at heart but they all had warts.

The story was pretty good, but it was very difficult to listen to because there was so much profanity in it. It took the enjoyment out of it, and lowered the quality to a base level.

This book was good until the end, which is to say there was no end. I realize there are sequels, but somehow the author should have wrapped up the story at least a little bit instead of reading the reader completely disappointed with way too many loose ends.

This was a fun book to listen to, but spoiled by a few moments of anti- Catholic bigotry that was so unnecessary to the story. Just thrown in in a couple of places.

While the story was very good, the sex scenes were way too long. I wanted to skip them to get back to the interesting story.

Story
Life is not easy for the poor relations of England’s upper crust, but fate and clever schemes bring them together. Lady Fortescue and Colonel Sandhurst hatch a plan: What if they were to transform her decrepit Bond Street home into a posh hotel, offering their guests the pleasure of being waited upon by nobility? With the help of other down-and-out aristocrats, they do just that, and London’s newest hotel, The Poor Relation, is born. The establishment is an immediate hit with London’s most illustrious citizens, save the Duke of Rowcester....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I enjoyed this book for the humor and distinct charm of the characters.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lady Fortescue Steps Out?
Sir Philip and his penchant for theivery along with his devious but humerous trickery added so much to the story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud several times while listening to this story.

If you could sum up The Guardian in three words, what would they be?
The bad guy was scary, but the ending was happy. I loved it. The narrator added much to the building suspense and the resolution of the story.
