Story
Living in a year around Christmas town has its drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It's why I like to hibernate away in my cave - I mean housekeeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits. And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest - which she was determined to win.

A Wrap and Decorate Tale!
Reviewed: 12-06-24
This was the perfect book to listen to while decorating for Christmas and wrapping presents! It was light and fun and I totally enjoyed the 2 main characters. Narration was fantastic. Not a big fan of explicit sex scenes so be prepared for a few of those. Otherwise, 2 thumbs up!

So glad to have found this series! The first book was a little challenging to get through, but the author was in the process of developing her characters. I am so glad I stuck with it because the character personalities continue to evolve, and the mysteries get better.

The beautiful young woman is perfectly still, curled up in the trunk of the car, her long dark hair hiding her face. Her cotton blouse has ridden up a little, revealing two small dots an inch apart on her back. Just like the others. Guilt has kept FBI Agent Tori Hunter away from her home in Manchester Bay, Minnesota for 20 years, ever since her twin sister disappeared on the Fourth of July, when the girls should have been together. But when she receives an anonymous newspaper clipping about another missing girl, Genevieve, Tori is dragged back to the past.

Can't figure out if it is the just the story, just the narrator or probably both, but after about 6 hours in, not much happened that couldn't have been told in 30 minutes. Finally gave up and returned.

I really enjoy Karen Robard's style. She makes her characters come to life for me. She usually has a little more romance; not so much in this book, but I think we may see more in Book 2.

This is my kind of story. Finally found another series that has captivated me to the point where I can't stop listening! I got Book 1, The Fixer, on sale and have moved through the second and third books in about as many days. I see there are 3 more books in this series but not out on audible yet. Please hurry! And, please keep the same narrator! She does a fantastic job.

I found Jensen's writing very compelling. Her character's came alive for me. Part of the appeal is the setting in an Amish community which I find very interesting to read about. Although some parts were predictable, there were also some surprises for me. The narrator did a great job and I will definitely look for more books read by her.

Would you listen to The Faithful again? Why?
I thoroughly enjoyed and looked for another by this author on Audible but none there! I thought the characters were well developed and the narrator did a good job with the voice changes. This was a different kind of mystery for me and I was pleasantly surprised.
Which character – as performed by Tanya Eby – was your favorite?
One of my favorite characters was Josh Metcalf's mother and I also enjoyed Sumner (sp?). Both of these characters added some comic relief with their quirkiness.
Any additional comments?
Waiting for the next in the series....I hope!

What did you like best about this story?
I just love the writing of this story! I love hearing what Maddie is doing now and her humorous and witty outlook on everything. The story is interesting, as all in the series are, but it is written in such a lighthearted and entertaining way, I smile and laugh out loud throughout the entire book
Which scene was your favorite?
It wasn't a scene particularly that I liked best this time, but the references to Amazon.com that cropped up every couple chapters that were comical as they became more and more preposterous, but after each I had to think....how very right she is!
