Too Short!
Reviewed: 09-23-23
Too long. for the author to get to the heart of the story!
And then the book was just too short! I didn't feel like I got my money's worth. Very disappointing book.

Story
Once burned, twice shy.... Jackson Roberts had tried commitment once. He'd tried it all the way to the altar, where he'd been left standing when his fiancé jilted him. That had been enough to convince him that his future would include focusing on the ranch and women.... plural. He hadn't met one that even tempted him to reconsider - until now.

Don't Waste Your Time

It started out sexually explicit so I did not continue. I wouldn't waste my time. I won't choose anything else by this author.

Story
Michael Hiebert’s remarkable debut novel tells the riveting story of a small Southern town haunted by tragedy. Abe Teal wasn’t even born when Ruby Mae Vickers went missing twelve years ago. Few people in Alvin, Alabama, talk about the months spent looking for her, or about how Ruby Mae’s lifeless body was finally found beneath a willow tree. Even Abe’s mom, Leah, Alvin’s only detective, has avoided the subject. But now, another girl is missing.

Story
Caroline Evans is a single mom trying to raise her 15-year-old daughter, Issy, as best she can. Her ex-husband, James, was a philandering charmer, and a wealthy one at that. But Caroline couldn't put up with his cheating and left him, taking Issy with her. Now, they live in the countryside outside London, where Caroline has built a modestly successful catering business, and Issy is now at an all-girls boarding school. Things are beginning to feel normal. But then James mysteriously appears on her doorstep....
