Story
The Troubles. A quaint name for a horrific period in the galaxy's history. A period whose atrocities were superseded only by the terror of the Savage Wars that had come before. Almost no corner of the galaxy was spared a taste of terrible war, cutthroat intrigue…and remorseless death. In the aftermath, this battered galaxy now longs for peace and stability. The Republic, now reformed, seeks to govern by the rule of law. But no matter how sincere the reform, how earnest and well-meaning the ruler, some worlds refuse to place their destiny in the hands of others. Ever again.

I picked this up not realizing it was written by another author but gave it the old college try and was surprised. the writing style is only subtly different and the story doesn't introduce content that seems out of line with the other books. characters are believable and the story is compelling.

But galactic war is only the symptom of an older, deeper, and far more dangerous conflict. Now, Keel and Ravi must work frantically to assemble the warriors needed to withstand an ancient threat, and Prisma must wrestle to control her own inner darkness.

I'll be honest, lots going on in this one, just read it, but the most surprising thing in the entire book is that there are members of the audience who dislike Cromethius. Please write 20 more uplifted books, they don't even have to make sense.

On Mars, the grinding duty of flushing out the twenty-meter-tall alien invaders from their burrows underground is wearing down troops and equipment at an alarming rate. And for the remaining extrasolar colonies, the threat of a Lanky attack is ever present.

Story
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Sorry Mr. Butcher. Your voice is fine but you aren't Darry Dresden and you sure as heck ain't Bob. otherwise the story was good and if the characters weren't believable it's only because there was an apocalypse in the last book.

less than half a book
Reviewed: 12-12-22
The authors admit to cutting out entire sections of the book so that they could split it into two parts and the last couple hours of runtime is just a podcast of nazi conspiracy theories with the authors. Love the series but it puts a bad taste in my mouth to get less than a book after they got me roped in this far. They're trading away the goodwill earned through their excellent story telling to this point.
