About this listen

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal.

When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Every story is great in this universe!

The only person I don't mind hearing outside of James Marsters reading these books! Even if I do spend half the time whining at the person who wrote the thing that he's doing his own voices wrong because I'm a giant dork. I want bloopers for James now, they're probably all curse words and "Ahg" sounds though.

Dresden Back To Its Roots

The past few books in the dresden series have had some insane power scaling and while it does make a good story, I've been missing the detective-ish narrative. This brings it back to its roots and brings everything together in a wonderful novella. Also, the author narrates it, great job!

A damn good novella, Mr. Butcher

I normally don’t give reviews, but this got my attention.

Firstly, I enjoyed that the characters I’ve read about over the years have been given development in the storytelling. The moment I heard that there were children needing education and a greedy pimp involved, I was asking if Marcone would’ve sanctioned the behavior. Hearing the back-and-forth between old characters was a comfort, as if I was seeing old friends again.

Secondly, I was utterly perplexed at how Dresden would solve the situation, and I enjoy loopholes. When they’re back with phenomenal cosmic power and all the living space they need, I enjoy it even more.

Thirdly, I liked Mr. Butchers’ voice for the primary antagonist. I wanted him to sound oily and stupidly arrogant, and I got what I wanted. I hated the guy as soon as he started talking. That’s the mark of a good DM.

Overall, a good story, and hits on notes that I don’t think most folks would notice. Dresden needs therapy, man.

Loved it!

Please listen! Butcher does a great job of performing his own manuscript. He actually sounds just like I thought Harry would after years of reading the Dresden Files.

What’s better than a Dresden novella?

One read by Jim Butcher! I love this book, and how it shows Harry is slowly getting better after Battleground. Also the bloopers are GREAT
