About this listen

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal.

When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Harry's back, albeit so briefly

I loved it. Very much back to basic's with Harry and his PI business. Justice and all that's good Dresden style. I've missed Harry and even thou James isn't narrating it was excellent and very well done. Only thing missing was Maggie and Mouse but over all a wonderful short story with some good old Harry Magic once again.

I gave it 5s for the bloopers

Jim Delivers on story Yet Again leaving this voracious audio fiend satisfied for now. As an added bonus we hear the story read by the man himself, a brave and bold move mister Butcher. while he is no James Marsters, He delivers the story with more skill and performance than many of the narrators Audible can scrounge up. while I was going to give him a 4 for Above average performance, the added bloopers at the very end Pushed it over the top! Bravo Master Butcher, mayhaps a voice acting career is an option if the Books sales dwindle (like that would ever happen lol) KEEP IT GOING JIM!! YOU ARE EXCELLENT!!

Loved it!!

I’ve been a fan of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files series since 2008. His character development and writing style have always spoken to me on a personal level. The Law doesn’t disappoint. Meeting back up with Harry post Battle Ground I could feel his pain in the words and listening to him help someone who’s truly needed it was a complete joy. Hearing this story in Jim’s Voice was a treat I will never forget. Thank you!!

Great book.... But the outtakes

One word... Outtakes. Pure glorious gold. Also the different voices added in for the different characters (my favorite was of course Maya) chef's kiss. 10/10

Another great story by Butcher

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing a story narrated by Butcher. While different than Marsters (who is one of my favorite narrators), having the author read the character voices as they may sound in his own head while writing was very interesting. The story itself gave much insight to how Harry was feeling after Battle Ground. He is still devastated over the losses he sustained; in true Harry fashion though, he keeps on keepin' on and does what is needed to help those who ask for it. I love the relationship dynamic between Harry and Marcone. Although John may be a criminal, there is still compassion and humanity in him, which Harry does realise. After all, it was John who stood with him at the end of the battle with the Titan. John who immediately began cleaning up Chicago in the aftermath. Harry can no longer deny that John is a "necessary evil" in his town. Bob running the castle and being connected to the internet though is one of my favorite parts. I can't wait to see how useful he will be in the next novel. Although this story was far too short to curb my Dresden Files addiction, I recommend reading it/listening to it for any Dresden fan.

Good Short Story

Although I've become accustomed to James Marsters narration I think Jim did a great job. The story was short and sweet. A much needed dive back into the Dresden-verse.

So at first I thought this was gonna be short...

And then I realized that I would have bought this book for the last chapter alone.
