Story
In the summer of 1988, the mutilated bodies of several missing girls begin to turn up in a small Maryland town. The grisly evidence leads police to the terrifying assumption that a serial killer is on the loose in the quiet suburb. But soon a rumor begins to spread that the evil stalking local teens is not entirely human. Law enforcement, as well as members of the FBI, are certain that the killer is a living, breathing madman - and he’s playing games with them.

Story
1983: Three students from a small college embark on a week-long road trip to film a documentary on roadside memorials for their American Studies class. The project starts out as a fun adventure with long stretches of empty road and nightly campfires where they begin to open up with one another. But as they venture deeper into the Appalachian backwoods, the atmosphere begins to darken. They notice more and more of the memorials feature a strange, unsettling symbol hinting at a sinister secret.

I loved this book. The character development was beautiful; you'll fall in love with these characters and the deep bond they share.
The mystery and suspense carries through the whole way, as it crackles with tension and breathless anticipation of what may come next. Truly an engrossing tale that will keep you invested till the end.
The narration was also really good! My first time listening to this fellow, and he is very talented. Also my first "read" of Richard Chizmar, and I will definitely purchase another one of his books. Terrific writing indeed.

Story
“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

The only thing I disliked was that eventually, it had to end. Will Patton as always is seamless in his portrayal of characters. The stories are varied and very, very good. The most chilling is the second story. My favorite is the last. The Afterword, as always is a lovely visit by King, despite someone else reading it. I wish it would've been him, but if he couldn't read it that day, fair enough. King is my all time favorite author, and even if he isn't yours, you will enjoy this collection. Cheers!

Story
Located off a desolate stretch of Interstate 50, Desperation, Nevada, has few connections with the rest of the world. It is a place, though, where the seams between worlds are thin. And it is a place where several travelers are abducted by Collie Entragian, the maniacal police officer of Desperation. Entragian uses various ploys for the abductions, from an arrest for drug possession to "rescuing" a family from a nonexistent gunman.

When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic, rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. Yet despite Ludlow's tranquility, there's an undercurrent of danger that lingers...like the graveyard in the woods near the Creeds' home, where generations of children have buried their beloved pets.

...my only criticism is the narrator. I wanted Will Patton - or even the actor who played Holly in the Outsider mini series. This narrator, made Holly sound a little too cheery and a little basic. But, i guess the producers wanted the actor who played Holly in the a Bill Hodges trilogy. Either way, it's an entertaining and good read

"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.
