Andrew Rowe and Nick Podehl is the best combo for audiobooks
Reviewed: 09-07-24
Seriously, I love everything I've read by Andrew Rowe and Nick Podehl is my favorite male narrator right now. The world building is astounding, the characters are complex, smart, and funny, and the stories are always compelling. Eventually, I'll purchase physical copies, but for now I am LIVING for these audiobooks.

Reading this book was like watching a Ghibli film in the best way. It was so cute and cozy, and I love how vibrant the fantasy elements in it are with winged cats, merhorses, and so forth. It's honestly the perfect cottagecore fantasy.

A therapist and self-help writer with all the answers, Sarah has just bought a gorgeous Victorian in the community of her dreams. Turns out you can get a killer deal on a house where someone was murdered. Plus, renovating Black Wood House makes for great blog content and a potent distraction from her failing marriage. Good thing nobody knows that her past is as tainted as the bloodstain on her bedroom floor.

Poorly put together
Reviewed: 12-27-23
Although the performance is great and the prose is lovely, the plot is all over the place. It felt like the author was trying to do too many things at once and failed to bring it all together at the end. Act 1 set up a good foundation, and it was fine when it started to unravel in Act 2 because the plot as presented up to then made sense for some unraveling. I figured things will become more unhinged before the end when everything is wrapped up, but instead the ending leaves even more loose strings than Act 2. Also, the Big Reveal in the final chapters felt very Act 3 Villain imho :/
Overall, I do not recommend.

A perfect ending
Reviewed: 07-25-23
There were a few stylistic choices I wasn't huge on near the beginning of the book, but the plot and characters drew me in and wouldn't let go. First time getting to enjoy a romantic comedy with an asexual MC. Most excellent!
I think the performance was a little fast, but it didn't detract from the story overmuch.
All in all, definitely worth the time and credit.

Story
Oscar Tundale is not a hero. Anxious, indecisive, and awkward, he can barely get through a normal day. Now he’s about to find out monsters are real. Oscar’s friends—brave, stubborn Zara and hyperactive, paranoid Marcus—might help discover what hunts him and unravel the truth about the handsome doctor he pines for. But only heroes can save the world, so maybe the best Oscar can hope for is to not end it by accident.

A must-read for queer monster-lovers everywhere!!!
Reviewed: 11-03-22
I've had the unique opportunity to read LKM before the audiobook came out. There's so much to love about this story (I won't post spoilers), but Jennings brings Michaelson's settings and characters to life in a way that words alone cannot.
A lot of aspects in this work are emotionally-charged and Jennings does an excellent job of communicating that through his narration.
Michaelson's world is as rich and vibrant as it is dark and mysterious. The sensory details in the book as well as the ambrosial prose make me feel like I'm really there alongside their relatable characters.
I cannot wait to see more from this author and narrator!!!

This is also my first time listening to a book with Booktracks music, and I thought it was a really good way to draw the listener in further.
