It's been a month without power. With no phones, no computers, and no reprieve, the remaining fragments of humanity are disintegrating rapidly. Starvation grips the populace as ruthless gangs emerge, seizing control in a merciless free-for-all that engulfs the entire nation.

I made it to chapter 4. They changed narrators at that point and I just can't listen to the slow slurring lady. She sounds drunk and runs all her words together, which should have does her up but did not. She also sounds like she's in pain at times. I'd rather chew ground glass than listen to that horrible performance!

Story
When the zombie apocalypse hits the quiet Asheville, NC, subdivision of Whispering Pines, the residents don't turn to the police or the military. Nope. They rely on their iron-fisted Home Owners Association! Which Jace Stanford and his family aren’t too keen on. Undead hordes are hard enough to deal with in a post-apocalyptic hellscape, who needs HOA fines too?

Part 4 is a copy of part 2. Audible failure. Only 75% of the story.

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Story
A catastrophic pandemic ravages the globe, reducing the human population to extinction levels and cleansing the world of mediocrity. A doomsday prepper, a molecular geneticist, a journal-keeping loner, and a martial arts-trained nerd survive the disease that annihilated almost everyone else on the planet. Despite the miles between Kansas and California, Texas and Arizona, the four share a connection. They realize that not dying was the easy part. Now a year later, they navigate a bleak world...one without technology, without modern medicine, and without law and order.

Needs a different narrator

I love Fannie Flagg's work. I love the series. The problem is hearing a northern accent sneaking into the narrative. I winced every time a Missouri native spoke with New England hard vowels.
The narrator is very articulate and does a wonderful job otherwise. She's just not well suited to voicing Ms Flagg's southern characters.
