About this listen

It's been a month without power. With no phones, no computers, and no reprieve, the remaining fragments of humanity are disintegrating rapidly. Starvation grips the populace as ruthless gangs emerge, seizing control in a merciless free-for-all that engulfs the entire nation.

Amid the dwindling vestiges of humanity, Brock Gage must lead his family on a treacherous escape from the perilous streets of LA to their secluded homestead. Confronting unfathomable horrors and haunted by the fear of an uncertain future, Brock battles against time and the brutal forces that threaten their survival. As the stakes reach unimaginable heights, will Brock and his family prevail in their quest for safety, or will they succumb to the unforgiving darkness that now engulfs the world?

I made it to chapter 4. They changed narrators at that point and I just can't listen to the slow slurring lady. She sounds drunk and runs all her words together, which should have does her up but did not. She also sounds like she's in pain at times. I'd rather chew ground glass than listen to that horrible performance!

wasted a credit on this

Gave it a try. Choked down the first thirteen chapters and couldn’t take it anymore.
Leaving threats alive!? Unrealistic pauses during a battle (with the gang leader). Clumsy dialogue between characters. Unrealistic conflict management (willfully taking on an unknown force, unknown numbers and how they armed; never considering evading!?). Narration does not match the characters. Female voice doesn’t pair well as the 6’5” lead male character.

Wow! What a waste.

It seems like the writers didn’t put a lot of research or thought into this. If you’re going to talk about firearms you should at least know the correct terminology essentially when the characters are trained. A Marine wouldn’t invite a group of potential hostiles to surround him. I’m going to try to finish this but if it keeps going the way it is I’m returning it for a refund.

I’m hoping it gets better

Confusing, boring. Stopped & stared listening a couple of times. Finally gave up as it only got worse.

Couldn’t finish

Got the most part I think this book was good. There’s an extremely violent part in the last story that goes pretty far out there. There are a few areas that are hard to follow.

I generally like the post apocalyptic style books but I just couldn’t get into this one right from the beginning with the actor guy whom I hated as a character

Not for me
