Time trickles down on the traditional tipple as Anty unravels family feuds, ruptured romance, shepherdless sheep, and a series of suspiciously surfacing secrets to sort out who killed whom and how and why and who might be next to die.

I have loved all the Anty Boisjoly books, but I think this is the best one yet, PJ Fitzsimmons certainly has wit and a way with words. The narration by Tim Bruce is wonderful and adds to the enjoyment of this book. I look forward to Anty's next adventure.

Story
The tranquility of a luxury cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything . . . until she lost her life. Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: “I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.” Yet under the searing heat of the Egyptian sun, nothing is ever quite what it seems.

I have read, watched, listened to Death on the Nile many times over the years. I purchased this one on a whim when it was on sale - I didn't pay much attention to any of the details. I started listening to the ever excellent story and I noticed that the narrator was good. He was very good. I finally went back and checked who he was. Kenneth Branagh. I had to laugh at myself. At least I can pick out a world class narrator. Highly recommended. I think you will enjoy it in every way.

Story
The spiritualist movement has captivated a segment of society: manifestations, the occult, and “sensitives” are in vogue. But the séance sites seem to be targeted for burglaries. Then, while Cribb is on the case, someone murders the medium. There was a great vogue for table-turning and getting in touch with the dead in Victorian times, and this lent itself to fraud, at the very least. It seemed inevitable that Cribb and Thackeray should take part in a séance at some stage. They come to it indirectly, following an art theft.

“One for the Ages” is another entertaining mystery from author J D Kirk. I have enjoyed every book in this series and this one is one of my favorites. We meet a new detective constable -Tyler’s female “twin”. And speaking of twins,… Well, I won’t ruin it for you.
Narration by Angus King is just right. His Scots accent is beautiful AND easily understandable.
5 stars and two thumbs way up!

I listened to Book 1 in the series and enjoyed it very much. I have just finished Book 2 and it was even better. Good murder mystery, fun characters, not a whole lot of swearing, and, most importantly, not too graphic in the descriptions of the murders. I highly recommend.

Surprised by other reviews

I purchased this title as a daily deal and I am certainly glad I did. I am always looking for a new series of detective mysteries, but I don't like anything too graphic in romance or violence. I started listening to this book and then read a few reviews (not many). A couple that I read said that the book had some scenes that were too violent for them. I waited on tenterhooks for the graphic violence, but it never came. It is a murder mystery, but it really is not gory. I like the main character very well and the plot moved along at a good clip. I enjoyed the narration, also. Sometimes I have difficulty with a Scottish accent, but I easily understood the narrator. I am planning on buying the next book in the series just as soon as I finish this review. Two thumbs up.
