Four minutes was all it took for fate to run away with anything that resembled normal. Now Katherine is trying to place mysterious psychic visions into her previously ordered life. She’s playing referee between a displaced Southern mama and a sarcastic mechanic with a chip on her shoulder. And her quiet life has been upended by a mysterious rash of violent acts by students at her school.

Just didn’t do it for me
Reviewed: 03-28-21
I absolutely love PWF genre and so I try to read them when I find them. It started out with a bang but just kind of fizzled out for me. The middle was mostly eh and the end was good. It just seemed slow and just didn’t engage me. That being said there are things I liked. I love that she has a sweet loving husband because it seems to be a norm in this genre is that the main character is divorced or widowed. I also like that the circle came together because of the defining moment. While this is paranormal with the power, there aren’t things like vampires and shifters. It’s more of a cozy sisterhood read with out the romance. The narrator does a fine job of the different accents and being very consistent through out the story but over all it just didn’t do it for me.

Story
Katherine wasn’t looking for anything extraordinary in her life. She had a job she loved, a husband she adored, and a home in the beautiful seaside town of Moonstone Cove. Okay, yes, she worked too much and had fallen out of touch with all her friends, but that happened to everyone, right? And sure, she was feeling a little creaky in the mornings and couldn’t drink coffee after noon, but that was just life in middle age.

Story
I was born on the wrong side of the law - literally delivered on the floor of the state women’s prison. My mother sees spirits. My father could become one at will. Together, they were among the most dangerous crime couples in history. I’ve spent the last three decades trying not to live up to my DNA’s potential. Now my father is dead, and his “gift” has wrongly passed to me. All I want is freedom from my dark family legacy, but my father’s death opened a gateway, unleashing a bloodthirsty enemy....

Wow!! Where do I even begin?!
Fresh off the Soul Summoner series (which I loved and adored), Detached is like a whole new field!
Saphera Nyx robbed her brother of his destiny and now she’s left with a “gift” she never wanted. I can’t wait to see what happens next for Nyx, Essex, Ransom and Bess! We need more Bess lol
The narrator is perfect! I love her voices for male characters (I struggle with some denial narrators and their male voices).
Don’t waste anymore time, listen to Detached now!!

Story
My name is Dixie. I'm a Demon - a lousy Demon. I'm a 21-year-old virgin, and I have a battery-operated boyfriend. My magic is iffy at best and downright dangerous at worst. Leaving Hell to represent my race is not high on my list of things to do. Hell was exact. Hell was simple. All I want to do is get to home base with the hotter-than-Hades Demon of my dreams and work on my dark side so Satan, my dad, will get off my ass.

In the 3rd book of the Hot Damned series, we follow along with Astrid’s cousin, Dixie. I loved the side story of getting to know Dixie better and how she came to be one of Satan’s daughters.
I didn’t love the narrator so much; all of her male voices sounded drunk and slurred.

Story
Stuck with Alan's ghost following her around, Bree is in hot water now with no easy way out as she's been framed for his murder and plunked in the local pokey. If that weren't bad enough, Gran's ghost has been kidnapped, and all clues point to the Big Easy - New Orleans. With the police on her never-mind-the-size butt, two men vying for her attentions, and a mystery wrapped around the murder of her Gran and ex, she has more than enough to keep her stressed and turning prematurely gray.

Story
I thought that going after those who'd destroyed my life would help me move on. At the very least, that it would ease the thirst for vengeance singing in my blood. I was wrong. With my guns at my side, I continue to search for ways to punish the one man who took everything from me. The man who killed my family. Death is far too good for him. I want to make him suffer, to take from him everything he loves. To that end, I need a code breaker, one who deals in magical glyphs.

To save my son, I would give up my soul. To survive this journey and stop those who face us, I may have to do just that. My son is waiting for me to bring him home, to rescue him from the horrors he’s faced on his own. I won’t take the chance to find him only to fail him again. Which means I must unearth a way to kill his captor, a man who is immortal. A man who made a deal with the devil to attain his power. As it stands, there is only one way to end that monster’s life.

Story
Over the hill, all outta ducks to give, and suddenly life is looking up...even if you're living with a ghost and fighting off werewolves. Moving back to Savannah changed my life in all the best ways. Color me surprised, when a new job lands in my lap watching over a fairy ring. Worth ten times what I’d make anywhere else, it seems too good to be true. I take it anyway. And that’s when things get weird. Nothing in Savannah is what it seems, and the magic and undercurrents of this city are pulling me onto a dangerous path.

Story
One day, I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real. The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter-than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert. I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date. At 41, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me. When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it.

Story
I knew the sins of my past would call to collect what was left of my soul. If I'd known the price I'd pay, I would've sacrificed more to stay hidden from the magic. In the middle of Wyoming - away from the abnormals of the world - I thought I was free and clear. I started a new life. Found a love I'd never known in a husband, and a son who was my everything. And in a blinding instant, that life was stolen from me.
