About this listen

Now a number one best seller!

Number one in Women's Divorce Fiction.

Number one in Women's Action and Adventure Fiction.

Number one in Women's Fantasy Fiction.

Over the hill, all outta ducks to give, and suddenly life is looking up...even if you're living with a ghost and fighting off werewolves.

Moving back to Savannah changed my life in all the best ways. New job. New friends. As far from my ex-husband as possible.

I didn’t count on the Shadow World intensifying its hold on my life.

Color me surprised, when a new job lands in my lap watching over a fairy ring. Worth ten times what I’d make anywhere else, it seems too good to be true. I take it anyway.

And that’s when things get weird.

Spells are cast on my friends that seems to make them lose their marbles.

I’ve got a Bigfoot baking in my kitchen.

And a skeleton is quickly becoming my go-to guy. Which is silly because the eye candy strutting around in front of me is drool worthy. (I’m looking at you, Crash. Really looking 0_0).

Nothing in Savannah is what it seems, and the magic and undercurrents of this city are pulling me onto a dangerous path.

But with a Fae Queen begging my help, and the darkness closing in, I can only do one thing.

Pop a couple Advil, and kick some serious ducking butt.

I'm a 35 year old guy, but a strong, snarky female lead is my favorite to read. And the Forty Proof series has that, and more. Our heroine is freaking awesome!! It's been quite a while since I've loved a character this much, and Lauren Fortgang as the voice of Breena is the icing, sprinkles, and coconut shavings on the cake. I listen to a lot of audio books and Lauren Fortgang was one of my favorites before. But I don't think she has ever brought a character-or story-to life so perfect as this, and of all the narrators I've listened to, I don't think any other could have done Breena and the rest of this story's characters better. I laughed my butt off through the whole thing.
Perfection.

Holy Duck, I Love This Series!

Shannon does it again, creating an irresistible new world and compelling characters, along with plenty of laughs and an unfolding mystery. Bring on the next book!

All out of ducks

I'm hoping for more to come. More more more! Great series. Very well read too.

Two done, one more to hear (so far?). Can't wait!

I love Breena, this series, and all the characters. Robert is my favorite skeleton EVER!! I always worry that the books in a series will not be as good as the first.... not an issue here!! Shannon Mayer has built a crazy array of characters in a world within a world, and it works! Better than works, actually... it is fantastic! Read this book!!

Few ducks left...

Great book, keep them coming, I'm hooked.
Lauren did an awesome job, please do not allow anyone else to narriate, it will ruin the story.

Just as good as book one

The Narrator does a great job with this series. Second book so far, and she has given Breena a great voice, and I can't imagine anyone else voicing her.

I am really enjoying the characters. Breena a sassy 41yr old, new divorcee finding herself in the paranormal world around Savannah, Georgia! Spells/Magic twisting people/fae/and shifters up. Who is on which side? I'm glad the Fab 13 created their group. I love discovering new authors.

-paranormal/not much romance...but more lusting after hot guys, so far, and that's ok. I love the mystery of the world rather than characters jumping in bed every few chapters.

Tried two different speeds. 1.65-1.75

Fun listen for the over 40 crowd!

These books are incredible! the story line is captivating, characters are all unique and interesting. It gives us middle aged women a reason to believe we are still badasses! Narration is flawless!

Incredible!

I thoroughly enjoyed Bree's journey to further self discover.Who said that you can't teach an old dog new tricks.. and I'm not talking about the story's heroine. As always Shannon delivers... I always appreciate the twists and turns in any of her stories! Midlife Fairy Hunter doesn't disappoint. The story continues to build! I cannot wait for the next installment. For this reason I will read anything that this author writes. There are many times when i couldn't help but laughed out loud.

I wish that the focus on being over 40 was not so much on the nose in the sense that author mentions that Bree is over 40 too often. At this point we know that she is over 40. I appreciate the indirect mentions of struggles and how she continues to overcome them. Anyone over 40 can relate to needing to take Advil and using a heating pad after exercise.

I will listen to anything that Lauren Fortgang has narrated; she is excellent!

I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
